At Vena Cava, the eyes have it

After three seasons of look-at-me lips (dark berry for fall, rich fuchsia for winter and orangey-red for spring), the runways are putting the eyes back in focus. This morning, we saw a natural lip paired with intense, glittery eyeshadow at Vena Cava.

The BCBG Max Azria show took it down a few notches, pairing nude lips with brown and gold eyeshadow (but no mascara according to Nola.com). Considering mascara equals a cup of coffee for my tired eyes in the morning, this is one look I might not be mastering. But it is interesting to see designers go from rich, glamorous fashion (bold lips, full lashes) to a minimal look right out of the '70s. Some writers have attributed this to the Recession.
